Series Review: "The Last Hours of Mario Biondo" ("Las últimas horas de Mario Biondo") (2023).

From Netflix and Spain comes The Last Hours of Mario Biondo (Las últimas horas de Mario Biondo). This crime documentary series directed by María Pulido. Questions persist about the last night of Mario Biondo, the husband of Spanish TV host Raquel Sánchez Silva. This docuseries uncovers new details.

On January 13, 1973, Spanish television presenter and writer, Raquel Sánchez Silva was born. After studying journalism, she started working for a local television in Plasencia. After that, she was a news anchor on Telemadrid and she started working for Canal+ (Noche de los Oscars, La hora wiki) and Cuatro (Soy lo que como, Noche Cuatro, Idénticos, Noche Manga, Oído cocina, a special episode of Supernanny, and special shows about series such as House and Grey’s Anatomy). When Cuatro was merged into the Mediaset España group, she started working in reality shows on Telecinco. In 2015, she was hired by subscription platform Movistar+ to host, beginning in 2016, a daily talk show titled Likes on the platform's new flagship channel #0. In 2017, she was announced as the presenter of Maestros de la Costura, the Spanish version of The Great British Sewing Bee, on TVE. In late October 2018, she began hosting the daily talk show Lo siguiente, also on TVE. In 2011, she landed a job working on a reality TV show called Survivor Spain, which is where he first crossed paths with Italian cameraman Mario Biondo. The two soon fell in love and married a year later on June 22, 2012, in a high-profile wedding ceremony, but it wasn't long before there would be trouble in paradise. On May 30, 2013, Biondo was found hanging from a rod with a shawl tightly wound around his neck. She was away visiting her uncle in Plasencia at the time. The investigation into Mario's death was extensive, with the evidence concluding that he had participated in drug use and heavy drinking before unintentionally strangling himself to death. When the authorities looked into Mario's search history, they discovered that he had been reading articles about the connection between cocaine usage and male infertility. It was alleged that Mario had a cocaine addiction that affected his relationship with Raquel, who wanted to start a family but believed Mario's addiction prevented this from happening. It's believed the couple had an argument about this on May 29, 2013, before Raquel left their apartment in Madrid to visit her uncle in Plasencia. The following day, Mario's housekeeper found him dead in their home. However, Mario's parents maintain that their son's death was not by suicide and have been working to prove that he was murdered ever since. Since 2014, Sánchez-Silva has been in a relationship with Argentine audiovisual producer Matías Dumont. Together they have two children: Sánchez-Silva gave birth to twins Bruno and Mateo on 21 September 2015.

Intimate in many ways, relying less on science and more on the emotion at the moment. It wants to tell a story rather than solve it, and sometimes, there's nothing wrong with that if it is delivered correctly. Fortunately, this series is.
